This is the read me file for the AD&D 3E Treasure Tables compiled for Tablesmith.

I. Standard Disclaimer
1. You use the tables at your own risk. This should go without saying. And, given their limited scope there shouldn't BE any risk. However, I'll not take responsibility for any unexpected outcomes due to someone's using these tables.

2. These tables were derived almost (but not entirely) verbatim from the following Wizard's of the Coast 3rd Edition publications:

<> Dungeon Master's Guide
<> Player's Handbook
<> Psionics Handbook
<> Defenders of the Faith: A Guidebook to Clerics and Paladins
<> Tome and Blood: A Guidebook to Wizards and Sorcerers
<> Sword and Fist: A Guidebook to Fighters and Monks

The conversion of these tables here is in no way an attempt to infringe on those copyrights. In their current format, these tables are neither published nor endorsed by Wizard's of the Coast, Inc who own the intellectual copyright to the original material. No charge or fee is requested or expected for these tables. And since you'll need to have access to (in other words, "own") the AD&D 3E Dungeon Master's Guide in order to make any practical use of these tables, these are meant only as a convenience to owners of that original source. Dungeons and Dragons and D&D are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

II. Adding the 3E Treasure Tables to your Catalog file.

1. Copy the lines below
2. Open Tablesmith
3. Click on the icon that looks like a pile of books
4. Paste the lines catagory file that opens,
5. Save and close the category file.

Note: Don't forget to click on the reset icon before trying to run the tables.

III. Adding the .tab files to your Tables folder.
In order for these tables to work, you'll need to copy/extract all the files ending with a .tab extension into the Tables folder under the Tablesmith directory.

IV. Tablesmith
1. Tablesmith is a shareware program generously developed and provided by Bruce Gulke. Notice I said shareware and NOT freeware. If you use his program for more than a week or two for evaluation, please send him the very reasonable $5.00 he's requested for the program's registration. He's certainly earned it by providing such a valuable tool. Bruce can be reached at by sending email to akira@mythosa.net

2. You can obtain the Tablesmith program from htt://www.mythosa.net. Once there, click on the RPG Utilities link and look for the most recent edition of Tablesmith.

V. Notes on the tables.
1. Several of the original treasure tables had errors on them. I've reconciled these errors as best I can.

2. Some liberties had to be taken in the construction of these tables:
   a. The Armor and Shield table had to be split (I'm not
      a programmer, I'm a game enthusiast). Therefore, I've
split the Armor and Shield Tables into separate sources
in order to be able to handle them more efficiently in
Tablesmith. I've used relative probabilities, and not
being a mathematician any more than I'm a programmer,
there may be some errors. I believe these errors to be
      small.

   b. I've added some additional items to the art category in order
to fill it out a little.

   c. I've added spells and items from the add on books (listed above)
      including psionics.

   d. I've added a main menu that will allow users to set the level of treasure they
want to generate using the parameters box. Also in that box you will need to
set the program to generate magical items, psionic items or a mixture of
      both.

   e. Coins in the treasures have been broken down into Total Coins and into
containers (Chests, etc.) containing coins. The coin value is the same
as in the random treasure table in the Player Handbook, just more realistic.
If your campaign does NOT use Mithril Pieces, open the file 3E_Coin Converter.tab
      and follow the instructions there.

3. Occasionally, the tables will spit out a weapon that is missing a special ability. I've been through the relevant tables until my eyes blurred and I can't find the problem. I suggest if this happens that you simply roll missing ability by hand from the tables in the back of the DM's Guide.

4. I'd appreciate feedback - particularly about blatant errors in these tables - but PLEASE don't contact me requesting advice on creating tables for Tablesmith. If you start needing that level of help, register the program with Bruce Gulke (see above) and contact him. I can be reached for general questions as at awmarker@rcn.com or visit our website http://www.breminor.com/default.htm.

VI. Remember, the copyright to the content belongs to Wizards of the coast, Inc. (http://www.wizards.com), and the program these tables run on belongs to Bruce Gulke. Please do not do anything with these tables that would infringe on the copyrights of these owners. By all means, buy the AD&D 3E materials and register Tablesmith with Bruce.

VII. Special thanks to Vance Reed for debugging these tables and for providing the coin converter.
