The below is an outdoor adventure using AD&D stats and rules, but set in Middle-Earth. The format is TXT. If you have a Word Processor, let me know, and I will send you a file in that format.
My group consists of players 6th-8th level, and this is a commensurate adventure. If you like this adventure, I have others available set in this general time (end of the Third Age), including "The Scouring of the Trollshaws", "Dol Gudur, The Tower of Sorcery," "The Battle of the White Hand" (a military adventure against a battalion of orcs and half-orcs led by a powerful Perenlog), and "The Left Claw of the Dragon" (an espionage mission set in Minas Tirith).
2947, Third Age

Situation:
Minas Tirith is failing, slowly but surely. Osgiliath is held, but Minas Morgul stills leers at the men of Gondor like a displayed corpse; hints and rumors come of the re-building of the Barad-Dur, and the Easterlings stir along the sea of Rhn. Recently, the party was involved in an adventure on the high seas, wherein corsairs and pirate raiders disrupted trade between Gondor and Near Harad. A den of pirates, headed and organized by a Black Numenorean, was responsible. After much intrigue in the City of Boshe Diar, the party tracked down and destroyed the raiders. The Black Numenorean, Aegnor (nicknamed Vinglok, "Sea-Drake"), was dispatched with a reverse gravity spell, and floated out over the oceans to be lost. Little did the party know the power of his armor (see below). He survived, and seeks to destroy the party.
NOTE: Any NPC villain from your campaign can be substituted for Vinglok, or he can be worked in and have some enmity towards the party.

Set-Up: The players meet Lorith, a beautiful but evil assassin. She poses as an ally seeking aid for her people, Dunlendings living north of Minas Tirith in the Entyn-in-Onodl (Swamps of the Entwash). She gives them the speech below, and tries to enlist their aid. She has been secretly recruited by Vinglok to lure the PC's to their death. She may be found out by detect alignment spells, or mind reading (if the PC's have access to this). She will stay "true" to Vinglok and his plan except under the most unusual of circumstances; as a conquered Dunlender, she is bitterly resentful to Gondor and other elitist prigs (like the PC's).

The Flow:
1) PCs meet Lorith in Minas Tirith [the White Heron Inn on the Rth Celedrin (Lampwright's Street) is an excellent place for meeting people], and take the mission.

2) Lorith will lead them through the Entyn-in-Onodl (Swamps of the Entwash), and purposely bring them near to the haunts of the Mewlip-Mage. She will lend minimal aid during their encounter, and maybe would even attack if things looked really bad for the PCs.

3) Lorith leads them to a portion of the Swamps that is higher, where "her" village is (this village was abandoned 4 years ago). The village has some fresh burn marks and troll footprints, but any skilled tracker or Ranger, if they put their mind to it, can figure out it has been years since this place died. Lorith will feign dismay, wonder if the troll has any of her people alive, and will fly to the caves, encouraging the PCs to rush after her.

4) In the caves (an area with limestone, hollowed out by the rivers passage, and then left dry when the river spread out into the swamps just south), the PCs find a narrow (3' wide, 5' high) passage that descends slowly over a winding length of 110'. There it opens into a natural cavern, 180' long, 85' at its widest. The floor is covered in a few inches of cold water, and stalactites drip water onto stalagmites. There the PC's will be ambushed by the Vinglok and Ulthk, while Lorith turns on them.

Enemy: Lorith, Chaotic Evil Assassin. Bitter and angry, she will betray the PCs.
Vinglok, the Black Numenorean who seeks revenge on the Party.
Ulthk, a Perenlog (Half-Troll), who has gone rogue, crossed the river Anduin, and is wanted by forces in the Brad-Dur for desertion.
The Mewlip-Mage. NB A Mewlip is an evil undead, made when a human cannibal dies with manflesh still in his belly. This one remembers his magic, also

Lorith's tale: "You are those travellers out of Lindon, are you not? I need to speak with you, if you will give ear. May I sit?" She looks at each of you for a moment, bites her lower lip, and then lowers her gaze to the table as she speaks. "Would you be willing to help people like me?......Dunlendings, I mean. The area where I come from is in dire straits, and they have no time here in Gondor for my people." Anger twists her beautiful features, and she continues, "Though they style themselves Lords after conquering my people, we are still of too little consequence for me even to get an audience with the Steward, Chamberlain, or council. I did speak with an officer of the Citadel Guard, and he told me
'Minas Tirith herself is in peril, and ever turns her eye towards Osgiliath and the river. We fear the power that holds Minus Morgul, and even more so, we fear the reappearence of the enemy. In the land east of the Tower of Sorcery, which I will not name, fell creatures stir, and smoke rises from the mountain of Doom. Gondor must look to her own.'" With anger lowering her voice, Lorith says, "He told me my people might find shelter as refugees in Belfalas. What about our homes?" She looks up again, saying, "I have heard you are friends of Gondor. Will that stop your ears to my people's pleas?"
She goes on to explain that a great troll has fallen upon her people. "Whether this is some work from...the east, or the troll be a renegade, matters nought. Death and terror await my people, unless they flee and become unhomed refugees. If you have the stomach and heart for this task, I shall guide you to Darrowash."
